When a number expires
A one-time number lasts 20 minutes. Here is what happens at the end, with or without a code, and how to get a new number for the same service.

Every one-time number is active for 20 minutes from the moment you buy it. The timer on the activation screen shows how much time is left.
If no code arrived
The number is released and the full price is refunded to your balance automatically. You do not need to do anything, and the refund appears in your Wallet.
If a code arrived
The number is completed automatically when the time is up. You keep every message it received in your History. It is not refunded, because the code was delivered.
Can I extend a one-time number?
No. A one-time number cannot be extended or reopened once it has ended. If you need a new code later, buy a new number. In History, open the finished activation and tap Get again to buy a new number for the same service and country at the current price. It will be a different phone number.
A code that arrives at the last second
A message that reaches us at or just after the end of the 20 minutes still counts: it is shown to you and the number is completed rather than refunded.
